Nov 1 2024

Munich, 1 November 2024 – Dr. Sebastian Binder (39 years) is joining Walberg Law Tax Strategy GmbH & Cie. KG (‘Walberg & Cie.’) as Associate Partner with effect from 1 November 2024. He will advise on corporate tax law, M&A tax and real estate tax law at Walberg & Cie.’s Munich office and will further expand the tax practice together with managing partner Manuel Brühl.

Binder began his career in 2014 at the international law firm Linklaters in the area of corporate tax law. He then worked at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in the area of corporate and group tax law, most recently as an associated partner.

Binder advises investors, entrepreneurs, medium-sized companies and corporate groups on M&A transactions, restructurings and ongoing corporate tax law issues. He also has particular expertise in the area of real estate taxation and real estate transfer tax. In his career to date, he has been involved in numerous significant national and international transactions and has built up an excellent reputation in this area in particular. For example, he advised the Webasto Group on the sale of its charging business to the US private equity firm Transom Capital Group. He was also part of the team that advised the US company Baxter International on the sale of its Biopharma Solutions division to the US private equity firms Advent International and Warburg Pincus. Binder regularly works on cross-border matters, particularly in the US-German context.

‘We are very pleased to welcome Sebastian Binder, an extremely experienced and knowledgeable colleague,’ said Manuel Brühl, who already knows Binder from his own time at Flick Gocke Schaumburg. ‘With his outstanding expertise in corporate tax law, structuring M&A transactions and real estate tax law, Sebastian is the perfect addition to our interdisciplinary team and a great enrichment for our growing tax practice.’

Binder himself says: „I am delighted to be able to contribute my experience to the development of a very dynamic firm at Walberg & Cie. I am joining an outstanding team of experienced tax advisors and attorneys. For me, Walberg & Cie. stands not only for high professional quality and intelligent solutions for our clients, but also for an entrepreneurial approach. Thanks to our interdisciplinary approach, we are able to advise our clients not only on complex tax issues, but also comprehensively and from a single source on M&A transactions and restructurings.“

At Walberg & Cie, Binder will also work closely with Dr Simon Sabel and Dr Roman Sprenger, LL.M., both Managing Partners in the Corporate M&A practice, in particular on transaction structuring. ‘Sebastian Binder has a wealth of experience in the tax structuring of cross-border transactions, but also in classic private equity situations. This enables us to further expand our offering for investors and advise even more effectively on complex transactions. We are very pleased about this.’ say Sabel and Sprenger.
